Tragic to hear this morning that yet another wildlife hide in South Wales has been burnt down by arsonists. I just do not understand the mentality.
It was bad enough when the hide at Forest Farm was destroyed, where I spent many hours working on the Kingfishers just a couple of months ago.
The hides not only allowed people who were patient enough to have opportunity to enjoy wildlife, but also formed part of the local `habitat` for those birds.
Disturbing and alarming wildlife means wildlife can be scared off their territories, and sometimes second broods may fail. This is very likely to have happened in this case.
The cost of replacing the hide at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Pembrokeshire has been estimated at £20,000.
